From the Washington Post

This is a very good article. I highly recommend reading it. It is about the "costs" of being poor. Most people don't understand or know that being poor costs alot of money and time. I can vouch for a lot of this. I also know what it is like to be amongst the "working poor". I don't make enough to get out of the situation I am in but I make too much money to get any help. It's a catch 22.

Anyways, I thought the article was rather good and thought I would post the link for you all to read. Here it is.

A Warning to Credit Card Holders

I have been meaning to post this for some time now but have been forgetting.

You all probably know this by now since it has been all over the web but just in case you are not aware let me tell you my story.

I had a credit card that I was saving back for "in case of an emergency" this card had a higher limit and a low or zero apr (at moment don't recall what it was). I never used it because it was my high limit card which made it great for say my vehicle breaking down or me needing to deal with another dreadful custody battle (since I do not make the kind of money to afford that $275 an hour fee that lawyers just love to charge).

All my other cards I used and always paid on time. I either paid the min. or more than the min. and again always on time (same with any of my other bills). I recently paid off my cards when I got my income tax back.

Well, one day in the mail I got a letter stating that since you are not using your card we went ahead and closed your account. Not , if you do not use your card in x amount of days we will close your account but it is closed as of now. I was very upset (as one can imagine) but it got worse. I did try and call them though the # of the back of the card was no longer in service. So then I emailed them with them telling me there was nothing they could do. I emailed them again and they told me I would have to write a letter to them. I did. That was back in March and I have still never gotten any sort of reply or response whatsoever.

This still is not the worst of it.

My credit score went down almost 40 points. It went from good (on the lower end of good but still good nonetheless). Now my credit is considered bad. It went from good to bad just like that. I never missed any payments, was never late, was not into debt up to my armpits (in fact I am at zero dollars owned currently thank you very much) but I still have bad credit all because I didn't use a card.

I have no problem with the fact that they decided to close my account (o.k. I am lying I do care) but the fact that my credit is now bad is my real issue and concern. I prided myself in even though I am making very little money I still know that my bills come first and I do everything in my power to pay them and pay them on time.

My dreams of owning a home are more than likely shot because I have no clue as to what I can do to make my score go up. I can't get anymore cards because of the current economic nightmare which has now made buying a home harder for people who have bad credit (which again I just didn't use a card - I didn't go on some spending spree).

So I just wanted to warn others out there that hey, if they haven't closed your account and ruined your credit hurry and go out and charge! Seriously, let's punish those who are being responsible. It is beyond idiotic. I read some article online that said something along the lines that if that person has never used their card and then all of the sudden is well, that is a bad sign. They need to be worried about the people who spend, spend, spend and who owe more than they make then the ones who keep their cards for emergencies. Crap, charge a monthly fee if the person doesn't use it don't ruin their credit. Send them a letter saying that if you don't start using your card in the next x days then your account will be closed. Do these before ruining someone's dreams.

A Review

I haven't done a review for awhile and well it's about time for one.

I have been a member of the Pampers Gifts To Grow for a couple of years. I kept adding codes everytime I got one. Purposely buying Pampers to get the points so I could eventually redeem them for something. Well, back in January I went to log in after not having for sometime and discovered they changed their website. I could not log into the area where you add points. I emailed them and they claimed the problem was on my end. Then I noticed that on their very own forums others said they too could not log into that part. So no, it was not on my end. This went on for months. I continued to email them and finally was told that they were working on the issue.

Well, today I decided to try it and see if it was finally fixed. What do you know? It was. But guess what all my points were gone and I am back to zero. I never redeemed one single point. How could I when I could never log on? I did email them but I can pretty much guess their response. It will be that the points are only good for so long and that there is nothing they can do. How can they expect me to redeem my points in time if I am unable to log on? Not because of my computer or my internet connection but because of their "technical issues" with their website.

Needless to say I will no longer buy any Pampers products. I had so many points in my account it isn't even funny. I have a whole stack of more points that I had been waiting to put in.

Huggies just started their own point type program and let's hope it is a lot better. Granted, my son will be potty trained before I would have enough of these points to redeem for anything.

I have to say I am very disappointed and upset with the Pampers Gifts To Grow website.

If I get a response from them I will add it to this post.

Today is just not turning out to be a good day.

Ends Very Soon Go Now!!

Coupon for a Free Digiorno Flatbread Melts

No Po. Boxes allowed.
Only good until 11:59pm est today.

I think I am going to cry

I woke up to the bathroom floor being covered in water. Which is not too nice but that is not the bad part. The bad part is that 16 big rolls of Bounty paper towels and 12 big rolls of Scott Bathroom tissue is now completely ruined. :(

So now I get to rebuy all of that and pay for them once again. Which means instead of say close to 20 dollars they will now cost me close to 40 dollars.

Did I also mention that it is pouring outside and that means I will be also cleaning up all the mud. dirt and water that will be tracked in by my landlord?

Today was my day off that I needed to do about a million errands and clean the house and now I won't be able to get even 1/2 of that done because of waiting around.

This new schedule is not working out for me at all and neither is my mother's new schedule which means I do not have a weekend day to myself to clean and do errands anymore. Now it is all bunched up on my 1 day a week that I have without my son and well, 24 hours is not even remotely enough time to do everything I have to do.

Sorry for the post but I really needed to vent.

Sorry I have been away.

I just wanted to say that I am sorry for being "MIA" lately. I have been very busy lately and I also have a new work schedule. On top of that my mother isn't able to have my son spend the night on Saturday or Sunday like she used to so that means less free time for me. So right now I am trying to adjust to everything.

Another deal to use to save more on shoes!

$20 off any $50 or more order at Shoebuy.com when you pay with Moneta.

What is Moneta?

Why Should I use Moneta?Moneta is a safer way to pay online. When you send your personal information such as credit or debit card information to merchants online, it’s hard for you to know how they are securing your data. When you setup your Moneta account, we verify your account with your bank directly; so you are ready to go shopping online knowing the funds will be paid from your bank account. By paying with Moneta, the merchant never receives or stores your account information. The merchant gets paid and you get going with your purchase. You can check your bank statement to verify the Moneta payment posted correctly, just as you would a paper check payment. In addition to security, Moneta makes online checkout a breeze. You never have to look for your bank cards or key in lengthy account information; you simply enter your Moneta username and password, then verify the purchase amount. Moneta is a faster, simpler way to pay online.

How is Moneta different from using a credit card for online purchases?Moneta is completely different from using a credit card because it is a debit-only form of payment. This means you now have the choice of paying-as-you-go with the money you have available in your checking account rather than going deeper into debt with a credit card. With Moneta, you will never pay any interest fees, annual fees, or any fees whatsoever.

Why use Moneta for debit transactions? Why not use my bank-issued debit card with the MasterCard or Visa logo?Using a debit card with a MasterCard or Visa emblem requires that you type in your card number, expiration date and security code every time you make a purchase. Using Moneta allows you to avoid entering personal payment information every time. All you use is your Moneta account ID (which can be the same as your email account) and your password. In comparison with debit or credit card data entry at the merchant site, using Moneta provides consumers with greater protection against potential security threats from sending sensitive account information across the Internet in real-time.

How do I know Moneta is safe?Moneta maintains the highest standards in online security, utilizing both proprietary, patented technology and the U.S. Federal Reserve Bank. Each purchase is settled through the U.S. Federal Reserve Bank, which monitors the entire Automated Clearing House network (the same network used by all banks to handle checks).

How are my transactions processed?Once you are enrolled in Moneta, you can choose to pay with Moneta and have the funds automatically debited from your bank account. During the enrollment process, we verify your bank account as being valid, then you are ready to use the system. On a merchant’s website, you simply choose “Moneta” as your payment choice. You will be asked for your Moneta username and password and within seconds your purchase is authorized and approved. Moneta transactions appear on your bank statement the same way as if you wrote a check.

Why should I support retailers using Moneta?Retailers like us because we don't charge them high transaction fees like credit cards and PayPal both do. Retailers can pass on these savings to customers in the form of lower prices and incentives.

Will my Moneta account ever expire? No. Unlike credit cards, which can expire and leave you with the hassle of updating your information, your Moneta account never expires.

What does the name mean?Latin teachers across America are smiling. "Moneta" is Latin for "money."
