Turkey Day Shopping Trips

Today I decided to brave the stores and make 3 trips to get some good deals. Surprisingly none of the stores were busy (never went shopping on Thanksgiving so not sure if that is normal or not).

This is what I bought:

Wags #1:
Infusium 23 Leave in Treatment $4.99 (used $2 off coupon from All You mag - decent magazine but absolutely horrible customer service - it took them over 4 months to fix a simple problem)
Crayola 64pk $1.99

Total = $6.98
used $2RR
used $2 off coupon
= $3.19
Received $5RR + $1RR

CVS:
2 Matchbox Cars BOGO $1.99
Robe $9.99
Universal Remote $6.99
Vaseline Sheer Infusion $7.99 (used $1.50 off printable coupon)

Total = $28.95

Used:
Bogo cars - $1.99
$1.50 coupon
$4ECB
$4ECB
$5ECB
$10ECB
New Total = $4.35
Received $7.99ecb + $6.99ecb + $5ecb = $19.98 in ECBs

Wags #2 (different store):
Snuggie (yes I wanted one of those lame things lol) $9.99
Mickey Mouse Bowling Set $4.99

Total = $14.98
Used :
$1RR
$5RR
New Total = $10.03
Received $2RR back

I didn't do that great but not bad either. I didn't have but one $2RR to start with so obviously if I had more it would have been a lot better. There were a lot of good deals that I would have loved to take advantage of but I am pretty broke so I really need to control my spending and keep it to a minimum.

So I spent $17.57 which is more than I generally spend but I got $50.91 worth of stuff.
Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family!!!

Free Photo Cards

Here are 2 deals going around the internet that in case you are not aware of here they are:

50 free 4x8 photo cards (these seem to be the flat non fold kind) using code : newbaby here you will pay $3.19 for shipping

50 free 4x8 photo cards (these seem to be the flat non fold kind) using code :freebies4mom-1109 here you will pay $3.19 for shipping

Also if you are a new customer you can get 100 prints using code : prints (you pay shipping not sure what it will be).

Yes, you can do both. Just do one finish and check out and then do the other.

I did both even though I have no use for 100 cards but wanted 2 different photos. I wish when they had these deals they would let you use more than one photo (ie. have more than one card so say (2) sets of 25). Does anyone really send out 50 cards???

Nonetheless this is a very awesome deal.

I just used both codes at around 9pm Wednesday night and they both worked.

Did you bottle feed or breast feed?

Which did you do? And did you get grief from other mothers because of which one you chose? It seems like no matter which you choose to do someone out there will give you a hard time for your choice.

I chose to bottle feed for a few different reasons:

I take medication (life or death) and it could possibly be secreted in my breast milk (didn't want to take the chance)

I had to go to work right away after having my son (not by choice believe me)

The convenience of it (as in I don't have to be the one to feed my child - which yes, I know you can pump and put it in a bottle)

I got a lot of grief from other mothers who breast fed. I personally feel that it is a personal choice and which choice is correct is up to your individual situation. But it doesn't seem like too many others feel this way. I really believe we as mothers should stick together and support each other and not alienate each other.

I mean there are pros and cons to each. I knew a mother who breastfed who could only breast feed her daughter flat out refused to drink her breast milk out of a bottle. I saw my friend never really have any time to go do something without her daughter because of this. She also had clogged milk ducts which ended up being very painful for her. I had another friend who had no problems at all with breast feeding. So it just goes to show that you need to do what is best for your personal situation. You shouldn't feel guilty for whichever you choose. Just be a good mom!!! :)

See my side widget for a little video about the whole breast/bottle feeding ordeal. Also you can order some pretty customized Christmas Cards from Paper Culture.

Wags

Waglreens Diapers $5.99
Ricola 19 count $1

Total before taxes and RRs = $6.99

Used a $5RR

New total = $2.41 and also received $1RR for the Ricola.

Not much I really want this week. But next week on Thanksgiving there are so many things I want but all of my RRs will already be expired and I see nothing worth rolling them on this week. So with the other 2 $5RR's I have it will be diapers.

I figure I can buy 2 more packs of diapers for $1.41 a pack. I wish I would have had more coupons for the meters so I would have had more RRs.

CVS

Today was the first time I had a somewhat bad experience at CVS. So I will not be shopping at that store for awhile and I will see how my experiences at the other ones are. I am actually pretty good on everything aside from diapers at the moment. Well, that and I suppose I can always buy more toilet paper. So I am going to try to cut down on buying anything unless it is free or it is too good of a deal to pass up. I am done with Xmas presents just have to now get pics of my son to send away for free Xmas cards.I might have to buy wrapping paper and bags I have to see what I have left from last year.

2 Glade Sense & Sprays @ $6 ea = $12 minus (2) $4 off coupons = $4
2 Kleenex @ .99 cents ea = $1.98
Cover Girl Foundation $13.00
Cover Girl Blush $10

Total before coupons = $36.98

Coupons (including above):
$4 off Glade (this is why I did not use the ones on the boxes)
$4 off Glade
$10 off Cover Girl (buy foundation get face product free)
$5 off $30 CVS coupon
$6.99 ECBs
$3.50 ECBs

Total after coupons and taxes = $5.84

Extra Care Bucks I received = $14.00 ($10 Cover Girl + $4 Glade)

The women scanned my tag on my bag prior to scanning any items she muttered to herself on it's not ours. Then she told me I could not use the Cover Girl coupon because it was not pictured on the coupon. I said that it doesn't specify which ones it just says Cover Girl foundation so she called the manager. He looked at it and just kind of gave a look like why did you bother me and said that it was fine since it did not specify which kinds. Then she goes on to tell the other 2 cashiers how CVS is getting smarter about coupon fraud yadda yadda (basically implying that I was committing it - with a huge amount of customers behind me no less) and how now the register makes the cashier check to see you have the correct item when using a coupon. Funny, how the manager himself had no problem with the coupon but she did.
So then I ask her if she scanned my tag and she said she already did. I figure she must of when I was not looking. After I get to my car I see no, she did not. It still only has two scans and this should have been my third. Grrr.

Wasn't too happy that she made such a big deal about my coupon. I was using them correctly and it wasn't like I got my entire order for free or anything. Do they not understand that the manufacturer reimburses the store??? Also she is just a cashier so why would she care? She is probably only making min. wage or somewhere close to it so why would she even bother caring? It isn't like it is coming out of her pocket.

Pics later when batteries charge.

My Target Trip

Luvs Diapers $7.49 minus $5 off coupon = $2.49 NOT PICTURED
Up & Up Wipes $1.29 minus $1 off coupon = .29 cents!! (sadly, Target only lets you use 1 of their coupons at a time - I wish the limit was 3) NOT PICTURED
Baby Blanket $3.24
Baby Blanket $3.24
Toddler Long Sleeve PJ Top (missing bottoms)$3.21
2 - 2pks of AAA Batteries @ $1 ea minus $1 off coupons = zero
2 - 2pks of AA Batteries @ $1 ea minus $1 off coupons = zero

Total before coupons and taxes = $22.47

Total after coupons (listed above) and taxes = $13.92

I also got the .05 cents off for bringing my own bag.

I plan to go back to Target tomorrow for more wipes. Well, 1 pack. I guess I will just keep going back for wipes every day or so. I have 8 coupons that don't expire until December 5th and I would like to use them. I might use 1 coupon on a pack of diapers though (since my son is just not liking the potty training lol).

Walgreens

I really hate shopping there. Each time I go I wonder what will be the outcome. Will it go good or will it go bad. What crazy thing will I be told this time. Does this sound familiar to you? I have read so many posts online about how disappointing people's shopping trips to Walgreens have been. Calling Corporate doesn't seem to help either.

Don't get me wrong I have some very good shopping trips there but I am always nervous when I shop there. They really do make you feel like a criminal for using coupons.

Today I went to buy 2 Sense and Sprays which were on sale for $4.99 each. When I walked in I grabbed one of their November coupon books and saw that they had a $1 off the purchase of 2 Glade products. I thought cool!! I will get a total of $9 off with my 2 $4 off coupons and that one. So I picked up 2 and also got a filler (even though I knew I did not need one since the 3rd coupon was a Walgreens coupon)but I do this just so they can't say something about # of coupons and items.

I give the girl my coupons with the Wags one underneath. She scans that one first and it only took off .50 cents. Then she proceeded to scan the other two and then she gave me my total. I told her but it only took off .50 cents. She tells me "we aren't even supposed to take these coupons" (meaning the Wags one) so I say but they are yours. She then tells me that they don't even have the books out because they are messed up. I explain to her they are right out with the ads in the display. She then tells me she can't adjust the coupon (funny that I have seen them do it numerous times). I didn't feel like having a manager come over and tell me the same story so I let it go. But still it gets so old. They make up new rules and have different stories every day. And each store is different. It drives me crazy.

I just wanted those so at Thanksgiving my mother's house does not smell like dog! lol

Want 40% Off Your Order at Kodak Gallery?

I am sure by now you have all received your $15 off code. But would you also like a code for 40% off your order? It doesn't expire until December 1st so it would be great for Xmas. You might even be able to use them together (not sure though).

I have some last minute cancelations for my Kodak party and will have some extra codes available. I would post them here but they are all different and I would hate for someone not to be able to use one because it was already used by another reader. So comment me with your email addy (I will not publish comments) and then I will email you a code (please check your spam and bulk folders for my email just in case).

Again it's a code for 40% off your order at Kodak Gallery. Expires 12/01/09.

Publix

I wanted to get things to qualify for the P&G Cooking Up Early Detection Promotion. Sorry but cannot find any links from P&G websites and saw that it said something about not being aloud to post it without permission. So google it and you will see info on other boards about it.

You buy $25 worth of P&G products from participating stores (I know Publix is one and am not sure of others). You then send in your receipt and UPC codes and receive a pink kitchenware set. The $25 is after coupons. I called and asked. Here is the phone number to call for more info : 1-877-733-5849. Good from 9/11/09 to 11/20/09.

I bought the following:

Pampers Boxed Diapers $19.99
Pampers Baby Wipes Refill $5.99
Bounty 2 pk $2.99
Halloween Cookie Cutters .59 cents (these have nothing to do with the promotion)

$29.56 before taxes and coupons/gc

Used =
$1.50 off Pampers Diapers
.50 cents off Pampers Wipes
= $27.56
$29.63 after taxes and coupons

Paid with the following:
$10 GC
$10 GC
$10 GC
Total = zero out of pocket

I could have had better deals but I needed diapers and wipes so I figured this would be a good way to get the cookware set and not have to pay for diapers.

Target Trip # 3

I saw that Target had toddler jeans on sale for $4.90 so I decided to go back and buy some. Also was hoping Halloween would be 75% off but no such luck.

I bought so much stuff but it was all needed. Was able to use some gift cards to make it less.

I bought the following:

3 Cherokee Toddler Jeans (3 different finishes) @ $4.90 ea = $14.70
2 Hanes Toddler Fleece Sweat Pants (?) @ $3.99 ea = $7.98
3 Long Sleeve Toddler T-Shirts @ $4.00 ea = $12.00
1 Flannel Western Toddler Shirt $3.98
5 Toddler Socks from Dollar Bins $5.00
1 Halloween Toddler Sock .50 cents

1 Halloween Purple Gloves (for me) .50 cents

Timer (for potty training) $3.29

3 Photo Cubes (to use for Xmas gifts) @ $1.00 ea = $3.00

Used my bag and got 5 cents off.

Total = $54.46 (20 items) but used $30 in gift cards to make it $24.46.

Walgreens Trip # 2

Their Halloween stuff is 75% (aside from candy).

I bought the following:

Pumpkin Power Saw $1.99
Pumpkin Carver Kit $1.24

Total = $3.46

Target Trip # 2

I bought loads of stuff.

Halloween Kitchen Towels 2pk $1.99
Garlic Press $2.88 (clearanced)
Pumpkin Carving Kit $2.88
Halloween Table Cloth $1.49
Mr. Potato Head Pumpkin Decorating Kit $2.99
Halloween Crayola Crayons 20pks $2.48 (good to keep a bag in my purse, in the car etc.)
Halloween Playdoh Packs 20 cans $2.49

Total = $17.45

Halloween was only 50% off. I could have waited but wasn't sure what would be left.

I did see on my receipt that my Target is also giving 5cents off each time you use a reusable bag. I heard about this but had not been to Target for awhile.

Target Trip # 1

2 Count Chocula $1.68 ea = $3.36
Chocolate Bat Cookie Mix with Bat Cookie Cutter $2.49
Vanilla Ghost Cookie Mix with Ghost Cookie Cutter $2.49

Total = $8.34

Walgreens Trip # 1

I bought 4 boxes of Queen Anne Cherries for $10 and received $5 Register Rewards back. These are for Xmas gift bags. So it's like buying 4 boxes for $5. These are large boxes too not the smaller normal sized boxes but good size.
