Stockpiling Etiquette

Something I have been noticing a lot online on various blogs and forums is the lack of etiquette that some have with stockpiling. I believe there is a socially acceptable way of doing it and an unacceptable way. I do not mean to offend any of my readers this is just a way to make it easier and more efficient for all.

First- There really never is a need to buy say 20 of some item. I mean really do you absolutely have to have 20 tubes of that toothpaste that is on sale? How long is it going to take you to use them all up? Not too mention that generally if you wait another month a similar item will have just as good a deal with it.

Second - You really should not if all possible clear the shelf (especially in one trip). This is not fair to others who actually need that item that moment or someone else who just wants one.

Thirdly - Cashiers will get irritated if you make them do a zillion separate transactions just so you get all of your RR's etc. This in the long run could possibly make RR's obsolete. Which none of us want. Make separate trips.

And lastly - If you have absolutely no use for that item don't buy it just to make money off it. I mean do you really need 30 meters just so you can get the RR's?

Tips on being a good stockpiler:

Go to various stores and try not to just frequent one. Make separate trips instead of having to do more than one transaction at a time (stop on your way home from work, on your way to pick up the kids etc so you don't waste gas nor time).

I personally have 2 Walgreens and 2 CVS stores on my way home from work and have 2 each of them near my home. So I go back in forth between the various ones.

I generally never buy more than 2 of an item at a time (unless it is B1G1F).My stockpile I have been working on for a couple years. Pretty much every month I buy 2 toothpastes and deodorants from a Walgreens and CVS which obviously I won't use up in a month. The reason I have probably a year's worth of certain items is that I normally pick up things when they are on clearance and have been doing so for a couple years. So I didn't go out and buy all this stuff in a week's or even a month's time.

Something New

I added a new blog to my list. This one is for all of you who maybe don't want to read about sales and just want the links to the free stuff. So if you look on the right hand side you will see "My Links" click on "Just the Freebies" and it will only be links to the free stuff. No mention of store sales etc.

I will still post them on this blog too but there will also be posts of upcoming and current sales.

Stockpiling

So I have been stockpiling now off and on for a few years. Really just recently started having a plan with it recently. I want to have enough of certain items to last me a year or two. This is for when I move. I want to cut my costs as much as possible.

Of course I am stockpiling everything for very cheap. I am using the various deals at CVS and Walgreens and occasional sales elsewhere.

The things I plan to stockpile are: toothpaste, toothbrushes, makeup, deodorant, shampoo, conditioner, lotion, pads, tampons, pantyliners and various medicines and vitamins.

I think I have a year's supply of everything aside for makeup and medicine. Luckily I don't wear much makeup (powder, lipliner, eyeliner and lipstick) so it will be easy to reach my goal.

Most of the items I have stockpiled have either been on clearance for dirt cheap or have been purchases with CVS Extra Bucks or Walgreens Register Rewards (lots of times getting me more RR's and Extra Bucks back).

I figured if I get most of this items now as cheaply and as free as possible then when I move I will save money and time not having to buy these items.

I make posts on here showing you my purchases so you can see how cheap you can get needed items so you too can save money. :)

A Good MSN Article

I found this article very informative (read the comments too for more tips!). It is about reusing various types of bags including the kind frozen vegetables come in.

I know I am going to start using a lot of the tips from the article and the comments which will help me save money and help the environment. :)

Upcoming Diaper Sales *Edited

Here are some Walgreens and CVS diaper sales that are coming up. This way you have time to look for coupons to make them an even better deal!! None of the deals are that great but with coupons, register rewards and cvs bucks they can be not that bad.

Target 04/19 (current)
Pampers $9.49 (most of the pamper coupons out presently expire 04/30 so this looks like probably the best deal to use with those coupons)

Target (until 04/27)
Luv's $6.99 (the coupons I have seen expire 04/30 so if you have any coupons for them I would suggest use them now on this sale)

Walgreens 04/26
Huggies 2 for $20 with $2 in Register Rewards back

Walgreens 05-03
Huggies $9.99

CVS 05-03
Pampers $8.99 limit 3

There are plenty of coupons floating around from various Sunday coupon inserts for both Huggies and Pampers. Off hand I don't remember if Pull Ups and Easy Ups were included but I am pretty sure they were.

I am trying to stock up on diapers so I don't have to buy them anymore since I am planning on having him potty trained as soon as possible. Although I will admit I am not looking forward to it.

Walgreens - Wed the 6th Only

Free 8x10 use code : MOTHER

Just in time for Mother's Day.

CVS

I did do rather well at CVS though (read below about my sad trip to Kmart) lol.

I did so well that even the cashier remarked that she needs to learn how to shop like me and the guy behind me said I was good. lol

I got 3 bags of stuff for less than $4 and got $4 back in Extra Bucks.

This is what I got:

(Easter Items 75% off)
1 Puppy Tattoo Egg 63 cents
1 Plush Fire Engine Easter Basket $2.49 (I am set on Easter baskets for a few years now!!)
1 Easter Vinyl Table Cloth $1.25

2 Kotex Liners 64 ct $2.99 each
2 Kotex Pads 20ct $2.99 each
(they didn't have any tampons aside from the Super and Super Plus so I did not buy any as planned)

1 Crest Pro Health Rinse Nighttime $2.88
1 Crest Pro Health Rinse $2.88

1 CVS Magazine (I have heard they have good coupons) 99 cents

Total before coupons $23.08 plus tax

Coupons I used as follows:
CVS $4 off $20
CVS Bucks $3.49
CVS Bucks $6.00
CVS Kotex coupon $1.50
Kotex $2 off of 2 (printed from coupon widget on this page)
Kotex $1.50 off of 2 (printed from coupon widget on this page)
And according to the receipt there was one more $1.50 off coupon (though I guess she must have used one of my coupons 2x?)

Total after coupons $3.56

Also received $4 back because you get $2 back for the Crest Pro Health (limit 2)

Very Disappointed in My Kmart

I went to Kmart because according to their webpage my store was participating in double coupons. Well, that was not the case since they were going out of business (even though online it showed that store was participating). So that was a waste of a drive. This area where I live never has any stores who doubles or triples coupons so I was so excited about Kmart doing so.

I planned to really stock up on some items. They had Huggies on sale for $9.99 minus $1.50 off coupon (doubled would be $3) I would have paid $6.99 for Huggies Supremes which we all know that is a really good price. I had planned on buying 4 (you can only buy 4 of 1 item - which I think is very fair). And I planned to check out their prices on Luv's since I also had 4 coupons for a $1 off and was hoping to get them after the coupon being doubled for about $5.99.

Head's Up - Walgreens

After April (this month) there will be no more EasySaver's Rebates.

I emailed Walgreen's EasySaver Customer Service asking if the rumors were true and this was their response:

"Thank you for contacting us regarding our recent decision to evaluate the EasySaver program in its current form. Walgreens is always looking into the future. For this reason, we are looking at ways to revamp the rebate program to assist us in proceeding in an exciting direction. Although change is always intimidating we feel that it is time to develop a new loyalty program so we can offer our consumers new and improved services. You will continue to find the EasySaver Catalog in our stores through April. Please look for future advertisement regarding our new programs to come. We appreciate your patience during this transition and hope you will allow us the opportunity to continue servicing your drug store needs.

Thank you, Lisa Rainwater
Supervisor Rebate and Vendor Programs"

I personally just started using the EasySaver and was very happy with it and prefer it over the Register Rewards (since those have a lot of limitations and also expire, not too mention you don't get the 10% bonus like you do with the giftcard). I guess we will see what is going to happen.

Target

Today's Target shopping trip:

Luv's $6.99 x3
Easter Coloring Book 40 cents
Easter Placemats 99 cents x4
Plush Elmo Easter Basket $2.49
Plush Tonka Easter Basket $2.49
Sesame Street Easter Egg Dye Kit 74 cents
Johnson and Johnson Baby Swabs $1.29

Total before coupons $32.34
Coupons as follows:
$1 off Luv's Target Coupon
$1 off Luv's Target Coupon
$1 off Luv's Manufacture Coupon
75 cents off Johnson's and Johnson's Target Coupon
(if I only checked my mail prior I could have gotten the Luv's cheaper because I could have used 2 Luv's Manufacture coupons and 2 Target coupons and gotten them for $4.99 each and then bought another for $5.99 with another manufacture coupon)

Total cost $28.59 which isn't so bad considering I bought 3 packages of diapers, 2 Easter baskets, 4 placemats and all the other items.

Head's Up - Kmart

Kmart will be doubling coupons starting on the 19th. This is only certain stores and there is of course limitations etc.

Go to Kmart.com and to see your ad for your store. They already have the ads up for the 19th and you can put in your zip code for your store flyer and that will let you know about whether or not your store will double coupons and what the limitations etc. are.

I am very excited and hope I can get some good buys.

Today's Purchases

I am still feeling sick but a lot better than yesterday. Hopefully, whatever I have/had is almost over. I hate being sick.

I was quite disappointed yesterday: I was going to pick my son up from school and saw that Burger King was offering 99 cents kid's meals for a limited time. I never ever go to fast food restaurants and never feed my son that kind of food. But I felt extremely sick so decided just one time would not be so bad for him. I picked him up and went through the drive through and that is when I discovered that the price was only good if you also bought an extra value meal or whatever they are called. Needless to say I spent $3.73 on some apple fries and milk since when I asked them to just make a cheese sandwich (told them just cheese and bun) they also put ketchup and mustard on it (which my son would not eat). So I ended up having to make dinner anyways. :(

CVS - Sunday - Kotex

If you have an Extra Care card and you have your correct email address connected to it than you more than likely received an email for $4 off a purchase of $20. This coupon that you can print is good until Sunday.

I already made my CVS purchases for this week's flyer so I am saving mine for Sunday.

This is what I will be buying:

2 Kotex Pads $2.99 ea I will use a $2 off coupon from the coupon widget on the right hand side of my blog.

2 Kotex Liners $2.99 ea I will use a $1.50 off coupon from the coupon widget on the right hand side of my blog.

My total purchase will be $20.82

I will pay out of pocket $10.32 for 6 Kotex products and some mouthwash. More than likely will also use up some of my many CVS Bucks so my purchase will be free.

So you might also want to save your $4 off coupon for Sunday too if you need to stock up on Kotex products.

A contest of sorts.

I need more readers. I need some followers on here. So I am coming up with a contest for you all.

More details coming soon.

So far I have a few ideas. :)

CVS

Sunday (today) and Monday only:
Easter Basket -$1.99 get $1.99 EB back limit 2
Easter Grass 79 cents get 79 cents back in EB limit 2

I was planning on buying both of the above to hold back but decided against it. I already have 2 Easter baskets for my son and I don't use Easter grass. But it is a very good deal for someone who needs an Easter basket or even to donate.

I did go and buy my Huggies today though.

Here is what I bought:

2 Huggies Supreme $10 each
Johnson's Baby Wash $3
Johnson's Baby Lotion $3
Coupons as follows:
2 - $3 off Huggies
2 - $1 off Johnson's
1- $5 off $25 purchase
$7 worth of Extra Bucks

I paid out of pocket $7.40 which includes tax. I received $10 in Extra Bucks back. I paid less for my purchase than what one package of diapers cost. I saved $20 with coupons and Extra Bucks and then made $10 towards another shopping trip. :)

I have some other items to get from CVS later on the week. Today was a super quick trip with my son.

FYI - You can print a coupon for 75 cents off of Huggies wipes that you can use towards your $25 purchase at CVS. Just look at my coupon thing on the right hand side and you can print it right from your computer.

Hints for tomorrow (Sunday)

Buy a newspaper. There will be 5 coupon inserts. Well worth the $1 or whatever your newspaper costs.

CVS starting Sunday has the Huggies and Johnson's EB deal. Buy $25 worth of participating products and get $10 in Extra Bucks back!!

To sweeten the above deal use any EB you already have and hopefully, you might have some of those $3 or $5 off Huggies coupons that you hopefully printed last month. If not there in one of the last few weeks Sunday paper was $1.50 off Huggies. Also again sometime within the last few weeks there were $1 off Johnson and Johnson products. Also if you are a member of Upromise they have e coupons for $1.50 off Huggies that get added to your grocery or drugstore cards. Log into your account to get more details. Not sure if you can use the their $1.50 off and still use a coupon. This will be the 1st time I added any coupons to my CVS card.

Glade Air Freshner is on sale for 99 cents and just recently there was a coupon for B1G1F.
Colgate Max Fresh is on sale for $2.99 with $2EB back and there was recently a 75 cents off coupon for it.

Also check your email address associated with your CVS card because I received an email to print a coupon for $5 off $25 which expires tomorrow that I will be using to buy the Huggies.

With all my coupons and EB's I will only pay$6 plus tax for 2 Huggies and 2 Johnson and Johnson products. Not too shabby!!

Walgreens - Wednesday

Softsoap Body Scrub $3.99 free after coupon
Physician's Organic Formula Pressed Powder $14.49 minus $1off coupon will get rebate of $10 back (I do not like this at all. It has a horrible smell to it. Reynolds Wrap 89 cents with Walgreens coupon
Glade candle $5.99 minus $4 off coupon (should have bought 2 at $3.49 to get rebate)

Total = $18.15

So far with the EasySaver Rebates I should get $18.99 back.

I hope I can get my printer cartridge refilled. :( I found out that my printer cartridge cannot be refilled. It failed the electronic test 2x. The guy told me that the circuit board on it was shot. He also told me that a lot of manufactures are now making the printer cartridges not refillable. Like it is a 50/50 chance that you can refill them. He did tell me that HP seems to have a lot that are refillable. He told me to stay away from Canon ones because they make the insides very weak so they cannot be refilled. I ended up having to buy another cartridge for $25.99 but I did have 2 - $5 off coupons that I used towards it.
